To find photos of places I would like to go to, and painting them the way I see them so others will want to go there too is very important to me.
I was born in Kansas City in 1961, but have lived Wichita Kansas since 1965. I have worked in production graphics for others since college and decided I wanted to do my own art. I have always loved landscape paintings, my father did wonderful landscapes in college. So in 2014 I took my sister's advice to take acrylic classes at City Arts and have been painting ever since. Learning to
paint with watercolor has been a challenge and a friend gave me some watercolor gouache; now it is my favorite medium. I have shown my art at City Arts, Gallery VII, Vertigo and Carriage Factory Gallery as well as many craft fairs and art festivals. I donated two paintings to PBS for a fundraiser. I joined Wichita Plein Aire Enthusiasts on Facebook and have received many awards for my paintings.
From the heat of the direct sunshine to the coolness of the shade there is a distinct line of separation of color. Even in the dead of night there is light with varied levels of shadow but the colors are still there, they are just much more subtle. Art helps to capture the beauty of nature and show it in a personal way, sharing a mood or a moment in time and space. I’ve been told that my art is very calming with a sense of nostalgia.
Thank You, I hope you enjoy my art.
